I'm back...

Okay, I know, I have not blogged in awhile. I have been getting some flak on that, so...

The first 2 kws of summer we were doing swimming lessons. My children now jump off the diving board and swim in the deep w/out floaties. It is awesome and they love it.
Through this I have also discovered some personality traits in my children that have become more noticable.
Elizabeth is very focused and if she wants to learn something she will do it until she gets it right. For instance, she wanted to learn to dive. So while we were at my mom's house (they have a pool) she asked Pappy to show her. She kept trying over and over until she did it. She learned within about 5-10 minutes. Determination.
Thomas is very laid back. If he wants to try something he will try but if he can't get it after a couple of times, he would rather move on to something else. He doesn't get frustrated just kind of "Oh well, I guess that's not my thing".
This last week we had VBS, Sunday - Wednesday night. 2 hours long! I was with the 2 year olds. I love them! I could tell by Tuesday night they were tired.
This Thursday we leave for Colorado! We are going to Winter Park (HGTV's Dream House was there last year or the year before). We will be doing lots of things and having lots of fun. The kids are really excited.
I am still researching and writing my book. Not working on it as much as I would like or need but have really been praying about taking charge of that.
I know some people may be thinking "you writing a book - hahaha". But I know that is what He has called me to do. My spirit is very stirred up about the topic I am first writing on. And the Lord has already given me several more. I just have to make myself focus and not let the distractions of life (the devil doesn't want me to write this book) get in the way and charge in!
We, especially as Christians, need to stop sitting back and waiting for God to do for us. He has told us throughout the Word that we have to work for our faith to take hold. We are given the choice of what road we will take. He has a plan, but you have to choose to follow His plan or the one the devil would rather you take.
I love you all and God bless!

Update

Not much really going on here. School, household duties. Same old stuff.
I will say however, everyday I am learning and growing in the Lord and about myself.
There are things that I need to work on to help me be the person the Lord wants me to be. Things that I know, because the Lord has helped me, that I don't necessarily have to "act like an expert on".
Of course for those of you who know me know, it is mainly in the area of child behavior vs parent discipline that I am more apt to vocalize. Everyone has their own way of doing it. I my self have been blessed with at least 95% easy kids. However, I give all the credit to the Lord. Before I was even pregnant, I prayed over my kids. Their health, their happiness and their behavior. My greatest fear was for someone to dread seeing us arrive somewhere because my kids were unruly.
The area I need to work on is vocalizing my frustration over it when those situations effect me and my children. Instead of focusing on it and venting about it. I have to learn to close my mouth to criticism and open it to prayer.
As with the study I am teaching on this month. My words have consequences. My venting about and keeping it out there is only giving the devil ammunition to keep the situation going. My praying over the situation gives God the power to work on it and in it.
So I vow, and when I fail I do repent - sometimes daily, to only pray about it and know that the prayers of a righteous person avail much.
Thank you for letting me open up about my own weaknesses without judging but letting me be honest and confess my sins to my friends. Pray for me to overcome this and be who God wants me to be.
I love you all and cherish your friendship!

RANDOM THINGS ABOUT ME

1. I hate feet
I think most feet are ugly - mine included. I have seen some cute feet, besides my children's and even poor Elizabeth has the unfortunate luck to have the Dye toes. (It is the second toes next to the big ones and they curves toward the big toe - and I don't mean a little - they look broken that is how bad they look.) I used to never wear sandals and now I only will if I have my toenails painted. Feet are just ugly!!!

2. I am writing a book
Since I like to talk so much about it, this gave me a different vehicle to discuss my favorite topic God/Jesus/Bible. After I had decided to do this, prompted by the Holy Spirit, I realized in high school I had started/wanted to be a writer. Of course, God was not my topic!

3. I hate cleaning
I don't mind picking up and straightening but getting on my hands and knees, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, scouring...hate it!!!

4. Like Lisa...
I don't mind sorting, washing, hanging or folding laundry but dread having to put it up.

5. I have great kids
I thank God for them everyday and for giving me the wisdom, I prayed for, to raise them to be well behaved, loving, happy, friendly and to love the Lord. They are not perfect, but they are pretty close.
Elizabeth several time now has told me "You do a good job of teaching me and Thomas how to be good and not to be bad. You are a great mom". She is 5.

6. I have the best husband in the whole wide world
He literally puts us first. He never tells me he is going to do something, he always asks if I care if he does something. He plays with the kids, actually gets on the floor and plays whatever they want to - for hours. On days that I know he would rather be playing golf, he will stay home if the kids or I ask him to, just to spend time with us.

7. I have great friends
They listen to me go on and on about whatever soapbox I get on w/out complaining - at least not to me. They encourage me. They tell me they love me. They appreciate me for who I am.

I tag...Kerri, Toby and Alisha

HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHTS

We had a very busy Christmas! On Sat afternoon Dec 22, we had Christmas at Daddy Dan and Nanny's, that night we had Christmas at the in-laws. Sun Dec 23, we had my Grandma/Nana's Christmas. On Monday, 2 little children decided they weren't going to mind, no matter what - including no Christmas (Santa and their presents from us), so Tuesday Christmas morning Cody and I opened our presents. I was actually suprised that no tears fell that morning begging to open their presents. Cody's next day off wouldn't be until that Friday, so...

Tuesday afternoon was spent at Grandma and Pappy's.

Friday morning came and the kids were very excited. I actually think waiting helped them to appreciate what they got since their was a lapse in time from one set of gifts to another.

Elizabeth got her Doll House from us and Thomas got a train and table. Lady got a really BIG bone!!

Of course, New Years Day was spent watching the TEXAS TECH RED RAIDERS play.

A good time was had by all but I am still trying to recupperate and get back into the swing of school. I usually would have all my lesson plans for the month done along with all the handout work. This week it has been day by day. I am glad the weekend is coming.

Hope you all had a great Holiday!
